Waverly

« Previous: The Quarterly Report Next: Went to Florida and never came home »

Look, I'm not going to mince words. This update is going to be short because I'm tired. It's 6:30pm and I've been up since 6am after only about five hours of sleep - by 11:30pm I'll be in Louisville with Vickie and Ruth and Jon and some friends from Vickie's work and some members of the Paranormal Investigators of Northern Kentucky (PINK) and we'll be walking into Waverly Hills Sanatorium where we will spend the next eight hours Ghost Hunters-style in complete darkness with our cameras and voice recorders in a four (Well, five. Sorta) story abandoned tuberculosis hospital that is considered to be one of the most haunted locations in America. When we leave the building at 8am on Sunday morning I will have been awake for twenty-six hours.

I'm already exhausted at the prospect.

But, here's some fun news. The Bibbles has discovered that when she's in the walker, if she kicks her feet alternately and leans forward, she goes. And man, she is absolutely thrilled with the prospect of following people around the house in that thing. But as proud as she is of herself, it's nothing compared to how proud her daddy is of her. That little girl is the most amazing thing in my eyes.

Hey Quentin. It's Sean

Hey Quentin. It's Sean Williams. I'm going to be going to Waverly sometime this Summer with some people. Was it worth it?

By the way, I just became a Daddy the other day. Actually, a Daddy twice over, all at once. Caleb and Kaylee.

Drop me a line and let me know how the Sanitorium was.

I've been planning on

I've been planning on writing a full update on how that went, but we all know that my skills at keeping my site up to date have declined drastically. Our group didn't see or hear much - I heard some footsteps that from my point of view had to be from upstairs, but the facts don't support that idea: the floors are too thick and it didn't happen the rest of the night, so that's weird. Jon saw someone down one of the patients' balconies but when we went to investigate we saw no one. The EVP work that Vickie and I have is still being worked over by Vic, and we haven't watched all of the camera footage, but I don't have high hopes of much there.

Let me instead tell you some things that I'd wished I'd known going in. Firstly, there's going to be upwards fifty to sixty people in the building. The split the group to about ten to twelve per floor. They also pair up groups that are investigating so that they're on a different floor from the 'tourists', but you'll have to get to know the people you're sharing your floor with and try to come to some arrangement as to who's down which wing - there were *many* times that we couldn't do any EVP work because the other group was just down the hallway. Investigating the tunnel is similarly useless because you'll be in there with at least eight people which means a lot of echoes, lights and footsteps.

Lastly, be prepared for disinformation. Before you go in you'll be gathered for a video presentation which is part documentary (narrated by Zelda Rubenstein of Poltergeist) about the Sanatorium, and the entire Ghost Hunters episode about the place - they continue to claim that 63k people died there. The employees will tell you about some floors being active and some not so much... honestly, they're there to run a business so I can't fault them, but if you're there for an investigation then the bs starts to get a little thick. Lastly, the night goes by very fast... at least it does until about 5:30, at which point it slows down to a crawl and gets real boring real fast. :-D

Hopefully I'll post more today. Congratulations on your functional penis!
