Maintenance and stuff
Well friends, we had a close one.
I noticed that the kTalk comments weren't appearing in each of the posts, yet they were still working on their own. I started doing some investigation and proceeded to break something. Long story short, I've spent the last two hours correcting my oversight, and (since I was already knee-deep in html and cgi) adding a few new visual fixes that I've been wanting to do.
As a result of fixing these, those of you who are signed up to receive email when I add a new post have received double notices pertaining to the last two updates. I apologize. Speaking of which, if you'd like to receive email whenever a post is made on this page, just go to the main page and submit your email address in the box requesting it. I promise you, I'm just a guy running a website. I abhor banners and spam, and you'll receive no spam from me. You can also unsubscribe using the aforementioned form.
Hey. Look up.. a little higher... now to the left. See the word "Forum"? That's a link. If you guessed that it's a link to our forums, you score yourself a cookie. If you go there and post a few messages, you get extra cookies... (Hmm... I use UBB, and it uses cookies to keep track of you, so technically I'm not lying when I say that posting a few messages gets you extra cookies. *slap* Must stop with the geek jokes NOW!)
Let's see, what else have I neglected to talk about recently? Well, frankly, I've been busy. Been working on a webserver for three different domains, plus upgrading the Disease itself, so I haven't had any time to do much else. Hell, I just played some Asheron's Call for the first time in a week last night. And I haven't played UO in I-don't-know-how-long (that's a measurable unit based on your IQ; your mileage may vary). But I've been exercising and whatnot in my downtime...
Hey, who says that you can't exercise every day? When this year started, I began lifting weights to get in shape. I did it every day, increasing the number of repetitions each month (20 in the first month, then 30, then 40...). At some point someone said, "Hey, don't do that every day, do it every other day." So, I changed my schedule to Monday, Wednesday and Friday. If you know me, you know that this didn't work. I eventually missed a day, forgot about it and soon just stopped. So I ask you, why not work out *every* day? Is it really that bad? Am I doing more damage than good? What are the chances that someone who knows anything at all about being healthy is reading this site? Why aren't you at www.espn.com? Why don't I just hurry up and get to the comments?
Here they are?
Welcome to the QDP!
Actually if you lift weights everyday you won't give your muscles enough time to build backup. The reason your muscles are sore the day after you lift is because at the moment your muscles are broken down and screaming for the agony to stop. You need that extra day to let your muscles heal which adds to your mass and overall strength.
Yeah, I'd heard that. However, I don't exactly power-build. I do 40 curls, then about 20 minutes later I do another. I figure that if the amount of exercising is less impactive (is that a word), then the healing time in-between can be shorter.
I'm amazed at how much my arms have taken shape into actual arms instead of bones covered in blubber. (sick visual, eh?) They lost alot of their form, but as soon as I started I regained the shape. I know it's not the most direct route, or most efficient, but is there really any harm to it? (my arms are rarely sore the next day, unless I really feel like punishing myself)
