More Ideas

I had thought for awhile that it'd be nice to have the world landscape customizable by the WORLD server, for example being able to change the amount of altitude change in the mountains, change water level, etc. I'd decided that this would be bad, probably leading to a great many worlds with that many more chances for bugged landscape. I nixed this idea due to increase server load, but what I would like to implement is customizable weather patterns.

Here's what I'm thinking. The person running the WORLD server would be able to choose a few options as far as weather is concerned. "Storm Activity" would dictate the chances that a storm system would develop, "Jet Stream Speed" would dictate the speed at which the storms would pass throughout the land (if I don't have moving storms, this will dictate how long they last), and finally, "Intensity" would dictate the range of storms power.

I would like the see Day and Night cycles in the game (maybe a split into 8-hour days), possibly with actual sun and moon cycles. However, I wouldn't want to do it unless we could pull off dynamic shadows based on the sun/moon's location. Clouds would make things darker, fog would occur in the morning (and after rain), etc. Weather would make a valuable tool in planning an attack.

Of course, this would also allow for each House to research Meteorological Technology, and allow them to predict the weather (with limited accuracy) up to six game days in advance (two real world days)

Yes, you read me correctly above, sea level. Why limit combat to land and air? Imagine the thrill of being able to park a Battleship type vessel off the shore of your enemy's base and launch long range attacks. Slow siege.

That's kind of the point of this game. I want to avoid the fast flare-type action of today's deathmatches. Well, let me rephrase that. I want to keep the fast action of melee combat, but I want that combat utilized in a war machine effort. I imagine mission that could take a few hours to complete, sprinkled with fast combat between goals.

Do you ever wonder if I see you
As you see me
Haunted images
Layed perfectly.
Mind unlocks
Endless doors
Never mine
And never yours.

OH sorry man. I did not know this place was presented for children as well. You know if you had ever told me that or posted it anywhere I would have adhered to it. I mean I am the first to dish out the tongue lashings on the omf site for foul language and such. And I hope you didn't know the person who posted the poetry, I was assuming it was a random passerby, and I was in an odd mood that day, only wanting to deal with things associated with intelligent thaught so I read alot more of you site that day instead of cruising the message boards I usualy go to.

I haven't got a clue who posted the poetry. I decided to leave it just because it's interesting... not the poetry itself, mind you (I'm not really into that stuff), but more the culture of the Internet and the fact that a site that is quite clearly about game design can be a public forum for aspiring poets.

And as far as keeping it clean, like I said in the last one, fuck it. Smile I try to keep my posts clean, but I'll use whatever words best describe my feelings, even if they're only four letters long. And since I've put up forums and comment fields, you should feel free to speak your mind in whatever way you feel.
